About Blue Heart Services
Behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment rooted in community, grounded in clinical excellence, and guided by one belief: recovery is possible for everyone.
You don't have to do this alone.
Blue Heart Services exists to make evidence-based behavioral health and addiction treatment available to the people of Greater Cincinnati — without judgment, without pretense, and without giving up on anyone.
Recovery isn't reserved for the few — it's available at every level of care, from ambulatory withdrawal management through long-term outpatient maintenance. We use ASAM criteria to match you to the right program, and we adjust as your needs change. The clinical team, the peer recovery supporters, and the case managers work together on the same plan — yours.
Community. Acceptance. Recovery.
Three principles that shape every clinical decision, every interaction, and every program at Blue Heart Services.
Community
Recovery happens in community. We integrate certified peer recovery supporters — people with lived experience of addiction and recovery — directly into our care teams. You will never feel like you are going through this alone.
Acceptance
We meet you where you are. Your history, the substance you use, how many times you have tried before — none of that changes how we treat you. Shame has no clinical value, and it has no place here.
Recovery
Lasting recovery requires the right level of care at the right time. We use ASAM criteria to match every client to evidence-based treatment — and we adjust that match as your needs change, from withdrawal management through sustained outpatient support.
How We Approach Care
ASAM-Level Treatment Matching
Every client starts with a comprehensive clinical assessment using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. This determines the appropriate level of care — from ambulatory withdrawal management through intensive outpatient (Level 2.1), partial hospitalization (Level 2.5), and outpatient maintenance (Level 1.0). As your situation changes, your level of care changes with it.
Whole-Person, Co-Occurring Care
Substance use and mental health rarely travel alone. Our psychiatric nurse practitioner evaluates and treats co-occurring conditions as part of your overall care — not a separate referral to a separate system. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD are addressed alongside addiction, not after it.
Medication-Assisted Treatment
MAT is an evidence-based, FDA-approved component of SUD treatment. For clients who benefit from medications like buprenorphine, MAT is integrated into the clinical plan — prescribed and monitored by our medical team as part of a comprehensive program, not as a standalone intervention.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Substance use disorder is frequently rooted in trauma. Our clinical staff are trained in trauma-informed care — an approach that recognizes the relationship between adverse experiences and addiction, and prioritizes physical and emotional safety throughout treatment.
Lab & Pharmacogenomic Services
On-site lab services support clinical decisions without requiring additional outside appointments. GeneSight pharmacogenomic testing helps identify which psychiatric medications are most likely to be effective for each individual — reducing trial-and-error in psychiatric care.
Case Management
Recovery extends beyond clinical sessions. Our case managers help coordinate care across systems — addressing barriers like transportation, housing instability, and benefits navigation — so that life outside the office does not undermine the work happening inside it.
